Help celebrate TTB’s birthday!
One year ago, I wrote The Translation Beat’s very first post. I had graduated from college the week before and was getting ready for my first trip to PNG. The blog didn’t have a name back then (there was a lot it didn’t have, actually), but over the last 12 months, it gradually became what it is today.
Since late February of this year, people in about 45 nations have visited The Translation Beat. Many came because they care about Bible translation in PNG. Others were just passing through, but I believe that God can use what they read, however brief it was.
Will you help celebrate TTB’s first birthday? Leave a comment on this post to tell me who you are and where you’re reading from. Mexico? Iowa? UK? I want to hear from everyone, whether you’re my parents, my boss, a friend from school, or someone I’ve never met. No excuses allowed. It’s a birthday party, after all!
(Hint: You don’t have to sign up for a Blogger account to leave a comment. Just choose “Other” and type in your name, or choose “Anonymous,” and sign your name in the comment body. It’s easy! So what are you waiting for?)

What a picture! Reminds me that UK-June’s birthday’s not too, too far away.

The ILC in Duncanville, TX. And it’s partially your fault that I’m here instead of the blessed land of Kansas. :-)
Seriously though, it’s been interesting. They’re currently in the middle of a conference, so I haven’t gotten to do much actual work. I’ll post more to my blog as soon as I get a decent Internet connection at home.

I’m reading from San Marcos, just north of sunny San Diego, CA.
Did you know that you have 4 subscribers on Bloglines? To put things in perspective, that’s over 1% of the people subscribed to Roger Ebert’s movie reviews–quite a bit in my estimation.

What a gift from the Lord you are to us. It is such a joy to see you growing in Christ and in your service to Him. TTB is one important part of the expression of that ministry. Dad & Mom

Thank you for making PNG “real” to your readers. I live in north-eastern Pennsylvania and have never traveled overseas, but when I read your blog and look at your photos, it makes the people and the land on the other side of the world come alive for me. My daughter, Sara, was in PNG on the discovery trip with you last summer, so I have a “personal interest” in PNG. with prayers, Nancy

Hi David & Happy 1st Birthday TTB! I enjoyed reading your blog this past semester while I was studying abroad in Uganda (whenever I managed to get internet access) and I’m still reading it now that I’m back home in Pennsylvania. I’m traveling out to Oregon in a few weeks to start SIL training so I hope to keep up with you then too.
I really like the picture of June on her birthday- it seems like such a long ago that we were at that conference room in LA, getting ready to go to PNG, but it was really less than a year ago! Thanks for taking the time to publish your thoughts and experience for us to read,
Sara

I read from Muenster, TX, and sometimes from Gainesville, TX. I wonder what my co-workers would say if I wore a bilum one day.

Indianapolis, Indiana! Thanks for letting me live vicariously through you. :o) I have the .mp3 of the music from the New Testament dedication on my desktop…I play it every once in a while and think of “every tribe and tongue” praising God in heaven.

Hey David,
missed the day. We were on the road to Denver and back last weekend. Your blog is great; thanks for all the work keeping it up. In your travels, will you get to see Mt. Wilhem? We were in Rocky Mountain NP last Saturday. I had forgotten how great it was to be around mountains.
Keep up the good work,
