A new address
About a week ago, I moved into an apartment in Arlington, Texas, with my co-worker Parke Brown. He is a few years older than I, and he’s worked for The Seed Company for about three years. We do not have internet access in the apartment yet, but we hope the company will activate it soon. Until then, I may be a little slow in answering emails.
My work at The Seed Company is a privilege and a blessing to me. I spend most of my time writing or editing profiles that tell about Bible translation projects around the world. It is a great joy to tell the stories of Christians so committed to Bible translation that they willingly face dangers from civil wars and religious persecution. Last week, I worked on a project whose translators had fled to the bush during a terrible war but continued translating the Gospel of Luke even in hiding. These brothers and sisters in Christ need our prayers, and they need our support.
We are making good progress with the PNG web materials. I am checking stories with Carle Gustavison in PNG and doing some minor editing work before posting them to Wycliffe’s international communications database, where they can be picked up for publication by any Wycliffe organization in the world. This work is also helping to lay the foundation for a website about Bible translation in PNG.
I would like to come speak in some of your churches and Sunday school classes about Bible translation, Papua New Guinea, and the part that each of us can play in getting the job done. Will you consider talking to your a pastor or teacher about having me come?
Thank the Lord for providing me this apartment with Parke. It is an unexpected blessing.
Please pray that I will have energy and creativity each day as I work.
Please pray that God will continue to direct our plans as we prepare to return to PNG. Insurance, tickets, and visas are only a few of the hurdles still to cross.
And finally, a bit of housekeeping: I have decided to make the eBolts and blog my primary method of communication for the forseeable future. Electronic communication is instantaneous and is possible from almost everywhere in the world. It is also much less costly than postal services.
Please let me know if my current system of updates doesn’t work for you. I do encourage you to read my blog after you receive an eBolt. One of my good friends thought I was working at a garden store because he hadn’t read my explanation of The Seed Company.
